Level Description
1 Hello, there! I noticed you on the fishing pier the other day. You caught quite a few fish. I was impressed. Haven’t I seen you at the fishing tournament last week?
2 I wanted to talk to you about fishing. I am setting up a fishing organization. This one will be solely for women. You don’t have to join, but your help would still be appreciated.
3 Two other girls with a passion for fishing and I are establishing the first International Women’s Fishing Association. Naturally, we don't have much experience with organizing such a thing.
4 I fell in love with fishing on my first date with my husband. But when I wanted to participate in the fishing tournaments, I quickly learned that this is a man’s world.
5 However, this did not deter me. I only grew more determined to prove my skill and offer this opportunity to other women. One day while eating cake, my friends and I got our heads together.
6 On a side note, we are concentrating on conservation. You don’t need to kill all the fish you catch to have fun. At our competitions, we set the caught fish free. We also plan to donate money to charities.
7 There are just the three of us now, but we want to recruit more women. We need someone to spread the word. You sail all over the world. Can you mention our club to fellow fisherwomen?
8 Not all aspiring fisherwomen have a boat of their own. It would help if we had some boats to charter. My husband has a boat construction business. He will help us if we get the materials.
9 We will need to install engines into the boats. Women can be strong, but paddling for an hour is not something all of us enjoy.
10 We will have our own fishing tournaments as well as “Funaments”. These are non-competitive events where we fish, socialize, and simply have fun.
11 We recruited another 13 members for our club. We will hold our first meeting on Thursday at my place. But there is still a lot of trash from the house construction that needs to be cleaned up.
12 The house is shiny and clean and we are ready for the first meeting. I should get some refreshments ready. There is a great bakery in town. Would you like to accompany me?
13 Ideally, we would have headquarters in a separate office. The meeting was great anyway. We agreed on having the first fishing tournament next month. Let’s get the fishing poles ready.
14 We are gaining new members fast. If we start asking for a modest membership fee, we could afford to rent a small office as headquarters for our association.
15 Almost a hundred women signed up for our first sailfish tournament. Can you believe it? I think we will make it an annual event. The popularity will surely only grow.
16 The tournament was a total success. We had so much fun. All the sailfish we had caught were unharmed and returned to freedom. We will definitely do this every year.
17 The association keeps growing. The women are happy to have found a group supporting them in their favorite activity. As a result, we have rented all our boats. We need to order new ones.
18 We received an invitation to a fishing tournament in Hawaii. This is our chance to prove that women are great at fishing too. We are setting up a team that will take part in the competition.
19 It’s decided. The three founding members of the association will be competing in the tournament. I know you deliver construction materials to Hawaii. Can you take us with you?
20 The tournament is the Hemingway Marlin Tournament and the great writer himself will be attending. I can’t wait to meet him. I love his works. I must prepare my equipment to do my best.
21 We are the only complete female team here. I don’t know if there was such a team in any fishing tournament. But we won’t get intimidated. Now let’s eat something light before the event begins.
22 Will you take part in the tournament too? You are a great fisherman. You would be a tough competition for us. How about it? I know a team who is looking for one new member.
23 You did great! But in the end, our team won the first prize. Now all those fishermen will have to acknowledge that women can catch fish too.
24 The awarding ceremony will take place tomorrow and we will receive the trophy from maestro Hemingway himself. I should get that new dress I packed. Where is it? Did I forget it at home?
25 After my wedding, this was the best day of my life. Do you still have some work on the islands? We can enjoy a few days in Hawaii and then sail back home.
26 After winning the Hemingway tournament, many newspapers want to write about us. The first female team to win a fishing tournament! I can’t wait to get home and tell my husband about it.
27 We received many new applications for membership in the association. Women from all over the world want to join us. This is what we have been dreaming of.
