Level Description
1 Captain, you are going out to the sea soon, right? Can I join you aboard your ship? I need to train diving in the sea. I have all my equipment with me and I won’t trouble you at all.
2 Thank you so much for taking me aboard. I have practiced diving in the lakes at home in Austria. I need to get some experience in the sea too. If your crew is ready, let’s set sail.
3 I am working as a secretary for the biologist Hans Hass. I hope to join him on his next diving expedition but first I have to prove I can handle it. I will film some fish in the sea as proof of my skill.
4 This place is perfect. There should be a reef not too far down. I bet there will be plenty of fish around. Please wait for me. I won’t be gone for a long time.
5 I have what I came for. I managed to get some nice shots of the reef and its inhabitants. Oh my, but it’s gotten cold outside. I should have taken more dry clothes with me.
6 We can continue to your destination. I have seen you have your cargo hold full of marble. I will return with you once you deliver the goods. Maybe I will have a chance to gain some more diving experience.
7 Mr. Hass does not like the idea of taking a woman on his expeditions. I hope to convince him with these pictures I took today. If I had my own camera, it would be better. This one is borrowed.

9 Mr. Hass is planning his next expedition to the Red Sea. He purchased an old steamship called Xarifa that he is trying to fix. Maybe you could help him and join us on the expedition too.
10 That ship is in a bad state. She needs a new deck too. Maybe it would be easier to get a completely new ship. But maybe you will be able to fix her. Mr. Hass is determined to use Xarifa.
11 Finally, Mr. Hass recognized my effort. He said he is taking me only because the audience will like a woman in the movie. But if I wasn’t skilled enough, he would not agree to it.
12 So you will be joining us on the expedition too. That is great news. Will your sailors join us too? They are very skilled. I will be feeling safer with the ship in their hands.
13 We have all our equipment on the ship already. We will be sleeping on the ship too so we need all kinds of things including some food and fresh water. Let’s hurry up! I can’t wait to set sail.
14 Hans has marked a few reefs that should be interesting for filming. Here is the map. The reefs can get up high enough to damage our ship. So please be careful when we come close.
15 This is the place where Hans and I will dive. In the meantime, go to the closest town and buy more film tapes for the camera. I am afraid we don’t have enough to last the whole expedition.
16 We have made some wonderful shots. The sea is full of beautiful fish like I have never seen before. We must go back tomorrow to film some more. We may even spot a whale shark.
17 Hans just found out there is a possible oil deposit near the place we filmed yesterday. If we manage to confirm it, it could finance the rest of our expedition.
18 We can continue filming today. It should be a beautiful sunny day. Not like it matters when you are at the bottom of the sea. Now help me load all our equipment back on the ship.
19 We can move to another filming spot tomorrow. Hans wants to check what we have filmed so far. But I wanted to make a bonfire at the beach tonight. Will you join me?
20 Since we have the fire burning already, we can grill some fish. I am quite hungry after all that diving. Let’s eat something tasty and get energy for more work tomorrow.
21 We have seen a group of manta rays in the sea today. It was amazing. They were swimming right above the sand floor looking for food. I hope we will see them again during the expedition.
22 I convinced Hans to rent a house on the beach. I am tired of sleeping on the ship. It’s swaying even while at the port. But I had to promise him I would pay it from my wage. He is a cheapskate.
23 I have made a great deal with the landlord of the rented house. He will give us a big discount if we get him the material for the reconstruction of the building. You can do that, right?
24 We have enough material to make a wonderful film of our expedition. We can return home to Austria. Can your crew help us pack things? Our equipment is all over the place.
25 I can’t wait to eat a schnitzel again. I have had my fill of fish on this expedition. But I will miss the local fruit. It’s so sweet and fresh, we can get such tasty fruit at home only in summer.
26 We are going to have some professionals process the tapes we shot. Meanwhile, we can concentrate on fixing our filming equipment. Months in the saltwater have taken their toll on it.
27 The movie is ready to be released. We will be watching it with Hans and our colleagues at our office tomorrow. Bring a few chairs and come watch it with us. The official premiere will be next week.
28 I have some news for you. Hans and I are engaged. I am planning a big engagement party next week. We need to have fish on the menu since that’s what brought us together.
29 I have even more great news. Our film Under the Red Sea won an Oscar. We have even more to celebrate now. It’s time to order some wine and have a party.
30 Thanks to the success of our movie, Hans and I have enough money to purchase land to build a house. We chose a spot near a lake so we can practice diving all year round.
31 We are going on another expedition to the Red Sea. This one will be shorter and we will join a team from Germany. They are taking their own ship we just need to contribute some money.
32 It turns out the Germans are missing the crew for their ship. I mentioned your sailors are amazing so we would like to hire them for this expedition too. I hope it’s not a problem.
33 Once we return from this expedition we will have the wedding in Switzerland. They are building a pier just for us on lake Zurich. We will have the ceremony on the water, so romantic.
34 We are back from the expedition and ready for the wedding. But the construction firm has already begun building our house. We have no time to take care of it. Can you help them with the material?
35 Of course, you are invited to the wedding. I just need to take care of the catering. The restaurant we had booked had canceled our reservation at the last moment. Very unprofessional of them.
36 The wedding was beautiful and I would like to take a break and go on honeymoon now. But there is no time for that. Hans insists we oversee the construction of our house. So let’s go!
37 The construction is going well. We might have a new house ready to be moved in by the end of the year. Let’s help them with the material and it may be done even faster.

39 The honeymoon in America was great. I even got some offers to act in Hollywood movies. But I enjoy the adventure of the expeditions. I don’t need to be a movie star.
